Andy McGarry
Andy McGarry is a Product Marketing Manager at SES in The Hague.
Andy is originally from N. Ireland in the UK and entered the space industry in 1988. His space career has taken him from the UK to the USA, Italy and France, before settling down in The Netherlands since late 2009. He began working and studying in the Aerospace industry in 1983, before “upgrading” to the Space industry in 1988. Since then, his career has encompassed over 17 years of Spacecraft Operations & Systems Engineering, over 15 years in Business Development and Sales roles, and over four years in Product Marketing. He has worked on telecommunications, EO, and science spacecraft as well as a few months on the Galileo project. As an Account and Contract Manager, he sourced and managed specialist Engineers, Scientists and Technicians for clients including ESA (ESTEC/ESAC), Airbus NL, NOVA and Bradford Engineering. In mid-2021, he began his third career as Product Marketing manager for SES (Space & Defence), based in The Hague.
His academic qualifications comprise a BSc (Hons) in Aeronautics & Astronautics from the University of Southampton in 1987, and a MSSAE (Masters in Systems Architecture & Engineering) from the University of Southern California in 2003. He is a proud ISU Alumnus, from the SHSSP21 program. As he worked for almost 13 years on the Ulysses mission, it has been the focus of his technical publications (including in the 2020|4 edition of “Ruimtevaart”), lectures (online and (in Dutch) for the NRM in Lelystad, March 2020) and informal presentations to various companies over the years.
