Jan de Koomen passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Jan de Koomen was chairman of our association from 1975 to 1987 and became an honorary member of our association in 1991. Jan has actively promoted (Dutch) space travel, both during and alongside his career, and as project leader of the ANS and of the Dutch and English parts of the IRAS, he made a significant contribution to the start of Dutch space travel. Until recently, Jan has remained active in the space industry, for the association and as a volunteer at the Netherlands Space Museum (NRM). He has reached the respectable age of 94 years. We wish his family and loved ones all the strength with this loss.
