We are excited to bring attention to an opportunity for individuals passionate about space exploration and eager to broaden or transition their careers into the dynamic world of space.

The International Space University’s (ISU) 36th annual Space Studies Program (SSP) is set to take place in Houston, Texas, USA, from June 8 to August 3, 2024, hosted by Rice University and NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC).

What is SSP?

The SSP program offers a unique and interdisciplinary curriculum that places a strong emphasis on diverse perspectives on space. This program is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the space sector, fostering a collaborative environment where individuals can network with diverse space disciplines.

The heart of the SSP curriculum includes core lecture series, workshops, department focus, and team projects. Renowned experts will deliver lectures, and participants will engage in hands-on activities and projects, promoting teamwork and professional visits. Conducted entirely in English, the program encourages participants to contribute their own knowledge, experiences, ideas, and cultural perspectives, creating a rich and vibrant learning environment.

Houston to be host city

Houston, known as the “Space City,” boasts a rich space heritage as the home of NASA’s Johnson Space Center, a hub of human spaceflight activities. Participants will have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the epicenter of space exploration, gaining inspiration from the historic achievements that have shaped our understanding of the cosmos.

Scholarships for Netherlands-based applicants

Financial support is available through scholarships to help facilitate attendance at SSP24 from all over the world. Additionally on a Dutch national level, the Stichting Space Professionals Foundation (SSPF) has been instrumental in providing program fee funding for applicants from both the space professional and space enthusiast target groups. This funding extends not only to ISU’s SSP but also to the Southern Hemisphere Space Studies Program (SHSSP) and other space-related educational programs inside or outside the Netherlands.

Thanks to SSPF, a significant number of participants from the Netherlands have been able to participate in SSP in the past, enriching the program with diverse perspectives and experiences. The application deadline for scholarships typically closes at the end of January. We encourage all eligible candidates to seize this opportunity and submit their applications promptly!

Join this transformative journey that opens doors to the international space ecosystem. Embrace the chance to broaden your horizons, connect with global space professionals, and contribute to the shaping of the future of space exploration. Act now, and embark on your space odyssey with SSP24!
